Default Adding slides

I wish to dress up a set of catalin pipes with brass slides. Can they be made from standard brass tubing as found in hardware stores? If so, what guage? Do they go under or over the projecting mount? Are there any videos or other instructional material available online? I have no idea how slides are put on...

Consider you would be removing whatever existing hemp stop there is...down to the i.d. of whatever tubing used.
IMHO itís seems more than a diy project unless youíve got the talent, right tools and lathe....and probably not worth the effort with little/no value added.

Bear in mind that the wood may have also changed just a bit over time...that bit could be a deal breaker with using a lathe.
You would then end up with real problems ...

I would leave that set be just how it was made.
