Default Re: Forum activity levels

I'm not advocating for social media to replace BDF but to augment it. Let me be more blunt: interest and participation in this site is dwindling. Do you know where there are thriving groups of new and experienced pipers, drummers, and fans? Social media. Having a presence there, if only to steer eyes to this site, makes sense. Pipes|Drums, the RSPBA, and The Piobaireachd Society all have a social media presence meant to raise awareness for what they do. And I know nobody wants the mods to have more work, but what happens if one has a change of life and can't manage this site anymore?

I get it - this is a special place and people want to protect it. But if this site is just an echo chamber for a few grade 3 pipers to occasionally comment on why they don't like teflon tape or people who want to use ellipses instead of verbs, then it's not a community, it's a crypt.

I love this forum and to some extent I'm playing devil's advocate - I love that I can get Willie McCallum's opinion on something or see Richard/panceltic's pictures of pipers past. Until recently it was the best place on the web to sell pipes/kit, and I still prefer buying and selling from forum members. But on the day of the World's, there were what - a handful of posts? Not a great sign.
