Trying out a C.E Kron Chanter and looking for reviews of the best reeds that work really well.

I have recently used G1 reeds which work very well in my Kron - Troys are also good.

I currently use McPhee in a Medalist and G1 platinums in a poly band chanter.

Thanks I just ordered a bunch of G1s and a couple of variety packs to try a bunch out. What drone reeds are you all using? been looking for drone reeds that pair well with that chanter. also Im an extremely wet blower so halfway through a parade my drone shut off due to all the wet.

I have one of Charlie's chanters and I find a MacPhee (spelling?) easy reed works very nicely for it. As for the drones, the yellow bodied Balance Tone Drone Reeds I've been using for a few years have done excellent duty under some variable conditions.

I second this. My backup chanter is a Kron, and Husk reeds are a great match.

Yellow-bodied BalanceTone reeds, as PiperQ wrote and Henderson Harmonic II reeds have been particularly moisture-hardy in my experience. Selbies are also better-than-average-lasting in moist conditions; slightly less than Henderson Harmonics II or BalanceTone, but I prefer the sound. YMMV

Solve the moisture issue first...full Ross system, Bannatyne canister or Dri-Flo, tube trap with a Trap-Dri, etc...

I have just sent Charley Kron pipe chanter reeds for himself to play in his own chanter as I have for years so your answer (at least what he might recommend) may be fairly obvious!
