Default what gets my goat

I am at loss trying to think of a reasonable explanation why on what is "allegedly" (I say allegedly because it seems the majority of the posts and replies come from the same couple dozen people, and not the 10,000 or so registered members) the largest pipe band community website in the world that there seems to be more interest in a discussion about the proper way to pronounce "USPBA" than the recent 78th frasers concert.(I do not mean to discredit the USPBA post. I am just using it as an example)

I was unable to make the concert and was egarly awaiting the reviews from the forum members who made it out.
My mistake, apparently us "forumites" could care less about a world class Pipe Band putting on a concert.
I am interested to hear any comments, and hope that this topic (like most others) doesnt go off in another direction in a couple of posts.

Perhaps I don't have $2,000 to jump on a plane and make it to the Fraser's Concert but I DO have enough money to mail into WUSPBA for membership?

USPBA is more a part of my life than the Fraser's.

Ummm, was there a question?

Or was this just a rant about ghost members, irrelevant and/or derailed topics?

If you really wanted to get a review of the 78ths concert, why not just ASK instead of lacing your post with crass comments and negativity?

Here is a little blurb from the 78ths own website:

Let's see... You have a grand total of 20 posts in 2.5 years of membership in this forum. Then, you have the gall to come out with a beef about lack of participation.

Am I having a senior moment or do I have a legitimate complaint when I state that I find find your post somewhat inane?

You don't like it here? Go away.

Ken,

With all due respect, Ken, I think your response is inappropriate -- especially for an administrator of this forum.

I often agree with the sentiment in the original post. For example, there hasn't been a new post in the Reviews forum for over a month, in spite of the Worlds CD and DVD being released.

I also don't think we should judge members on their quantity of posts. There are a lot of people here with fewer than 20 posts who add a lot -- when they are so moved.

Anyway, that's my two cents on this Thanksgiving day.

Careful, I have friends in Louisiana. Bad friends...

Laissez les bon temps rouler... Or something like that.

Too bad you don't get the point I'm trying to make. A broad condemnation of this place such as the one that opened this thread from a non-participant is an insult to those of us who have been volunteering vast amounts of our time for no reward other than some small internal satisfaction is extremely annoying.

As for my comments, I'll make comments any time a non-entity decides to criticize something as close to my heart as this place... Why? Because I can and I'm fed up with being taken for granted.

Ken

BTW, Thanksgiving was in October up here...

Why wait for someone else to post...

"Hey what did you all think of the 2007 Worlds CD and DVD this year, do you think they made any improvements over 2006?"

That is how discussion is generated, someone has to make the first post, right?

Complaining that there hasn't been any discussion in "X" forum about "Y" topic is a waste of keystrokes, put that energy into creating that discussion yourself.
