Default Extreme Home Makeover

Ok, so there I was at work last Friday, when I get a call from Hubby. He was on the porch when he heard this bullhorn go off. "GOOD MORNING ****** FAMILY!". Yep, they're filming an episode of Extreme Makeover - Home Edition about 500 yards from my house. We have a direct line of sight from our front porch. MAN what a cluster! They sent the family to Hawaii, and tore the old house (tiny little trailer) down Sunday. The big unveiling is planned for tomorrow at 2 PM. Don't know if they're gonna make it, the weather here sucked all week. It's been below freezing, with fog so thick you couldn't see across the road, and they got way behind.

Several folks at work have asked if I'm gonna be out playing for the unveiling.

NOPE!

It's been about 30 deg or less for the past week, and I'm still a beginner, so I have no intention of making a fool of myself on national television. Sure as God made little green apples, somebody on this site will be watching when the show airs in March, and within the hour, will post about the crappy piper that they heard. Then the flaying will begin. I may be shameless, but I'm not ready for public humiliation. Not on a national level, anyway! Now if it was summer, and I'd been practicing regularly, I might be tempted. Probably not. I know my limitations.

It is a lot of fun watching the progress, though. They started demolition Sunday, and they should be done Friday. The main house is up, and they're putting another building behind. I'm not sure what it's gonna be yet. I think they're starting on the landscaping today, too. They're working 24 hours a day, so the lot is lit up all night, and there's heavy equipment constantly moving. We're close enough that the lights shine right in the window, but far enough out that they didn't rent our lot for storage. Dammit. Lotta neighbors making some cash renting out storage space!

Hey Linz find out when it will air.

Smart decision to hide the pipes. Even if you did play and play well there is always someone on this forum who has to find something wrong.

I think you are wrong when you say within the hour someone would be posting.... someone would be turning on the computer before you even finished the tune.

I always wondered what it was like for the neighbors to "live" through these shows. Has it been tough to sleep at night?

It must be kinda neat to watch it all happen though!

CorkPiper: LOL, I had to laugh, what you said is so true.

Same thing happened to me one summer when I lived in Montana.....across the street and 3 houses down. The only thing I really noticed was an increase in traffic.....

Of course, there's also an equal amount of us who don't have a clue what you're talking about. Do they have pipes in it?

Its a kind of over-the-top, home improvement/demolition show for people obsessed with home design, hosted by highly skilled carpenters, electricians and the like. Not bad if you are into that kind of thing. It usually airs against reruns of Top Gear, so I rarely see it. Oh, no pipes on the show that I have ever seen.

Yes, in the plumbing.
