Default Hemping small pipes

Hi all

my McCallum small pipes (bellows)need a bit of hemp on the common stock, it came out of the bag with only slight pressure.

What do you use on small pipes as I see it is very fine compared to GHB hemp?
regards
Raymac

I generally use cotton sewing thread. At the exterior of the wrapping I use some beeswax, for interior wrapping I use some rosined wax, some people use thermowax, but I made some pitch plus beeswax a year or two ago and it works great. not all that different than GHB, just a different material.

Silk thread for me. Real silk, not drone cord fake silk.

If I read the OP correctly, the common stock came out of the bag. This is not about wrapping a joint, it's about tying the stock back into the bag. This is a lot trickier than just hemping (and a real pain in the -- elbow) and you should get some help from somebody who has done it before. Now, as to what cordage to use to tie in ---- that's a whole other discussion!

Fred Morison/McCallum SSP and Reel/Border pipes use the same stock so drones are interchangeable. One of the nice features with these pipes. So I'm thinking the OP is referring to that and not the bag tie in.

I would contact McCallum and ask Kenny what he recommends.
