Pulling a nylon stocking with the foot cut off over the sporran makes a handy way to pack the sporran when travelling. A kilt can be double folded as usual and then rolled side to side and put in a stocking too; it then fits nicely in the back edge of a suitcase.

Greenpipe, and All,

I did use this handy method for a short while... but then I
began to notice... that a bit... of an "hour-glass" shape...
was beginning to form... in the hairs.

An older piper remarked that... almost any straight-sided
carrying case... contraption... home made whatnot... was
preferable... as once that hour-glass shape was in the hairs...
it was the Devil's own... to get them straight... again!! :)

So I found myself a bit of heavy canvas... flim-flamed up an
oval cylinder... with a hanging strap... and it was done. :)

I have seen some... that were of leather... but almost any
pliable... and sewable... material... will do.

I hope this helps.

Regards to You, and to All,

Pip01
