Default Attaching T-zip to leather

Anyone have a clue as to what adhesive method pipebag makers use to attach the T-zip zippers to leather? I have have never messed with them before and need to figure out the best method for attaching this thing directly to leather. I have some ideas but a proven method would be best to avoid any waste in prototyping. The zippers backing is pretty much rubber. Seth

From what I can tell every single pipebag out there, weather it is leather, gortex, or rubber uses the Tizip http://www.tizip.com/ and they are gluing the backing on the inside. This way the outer zipper does not pull the backing off it is putting pressure on the bag. Air pressure on the inside does not blow the zipper off it would always be pushing it on. As far as glue goes, they might be using this http://mdbuyinggroup.com/products/po...e/barge-cement stuff.

From what I can see on my Ross bags they glue the zipper inside the bag against the leather then lay the goretex over that.

Thanks guys, I am using a T-zip zipper. I have a few ideas up my sleeve that I'm pretty sure of. I'll let you guys know if I'm successful. Seth

Why not shoot an email to Gannaway and ask them what they're using to affix their Ti-zip zippers in their hide bags? Who knows: they might just tell you!

What kind of pipes fit that bag, Seth?

It looks like an "homage" to Michael MacHarg's work

I did talk to Michael about adding the zipper but the bag is my own design and my own work. My bag construction is different from Michaels. I know how he makes his bags from talking
to him and I do one step that he doesn't do, but their are many great ways to make bags. I have been contemplating having Michael make my bags, but I have a little sense of pride in the fact that I make all the parts for my bags. I use the same template I use for my Swedish pipes but I add 4 inches to the back of the bag and I riveted the bag instead of using my no-stitch or sew method. This is how I make my smallpipe bags too but I also use the no-stitch method or rivets.
