Made with apple wood no less.

Marketing is an amazing thing... get the masses thinking you have some new unique product so they can add to their collection.

Interested to hear how these sound... probably not much different from the Firesides etc etc.

'Mini' pipes always look goofy to me though... your highland pipes shrunk in the wash!

Elementary my dear Waldo. The problem is not moisture condensing on the outside of reeds. Synthetic reeds (and even cane) are good with that. The problem, as GHBers know, is moisture condensing in the drones, beading up, and running into the reeds. There is no material that can defend against the reed body literally filling up with water, and moisture sitting on the inside of the tongue. In a bagpipe of any kind, any moisture that collects inside the drone reeds does not dry readily. It's still there when you get the pipes out again two days later. It wreaks havoc with trying to keep the drones in tune.

Plus, moisture accumulating inside a synthetic bag is problematic over time.

But why do highland pipers spit in their drones to begin with???

Best wishes.
