Sorry but that's just not correct. Once a glue bond breaks even threaded fittings can work loose and may eventually separate from the piece.

Sure they can, but less likely too than the non glued and threaded pipes. Anything is possible. But if they are not threaded or glued then it is very likely they will come loose and I have a set that is glued and threaded and I also have another set that is not and glued and threaded and guess which one stated to come apart at the ferrules. Yes, could be the heat, as summer tempertures here in Melbourne get upto 42+ degrees C, but it is a fairly dry heat, but I still would prefer the pipes to be glued and screwed.

Cheers

Another thing about threading along with gluing is that with the threads there is a vast amount greater surface area between the mount and the wood so much more adhesion can take place resulting in a much less likely mount falling off or coming loose over time.

Why use adhesive ??

There is another way...

Waxed nylon dental floss does not react to heat or moisture...so why not just remove the hemp joint, take off the slide...wind some floss around till you have the desired amount....

Then use a hair dryer to heat up & expand the slide a bit...and reposition the slide which will be firmly in position thereafter.

The two obvious benefits of this is...1) that the part is held firmly in place, and...2) it's easy to remove should it ever be necessary later on.
