Default Thomson goat-skin bag

I just bought a brand new Thomson goat-skin bag and just wonder what kind of seasoning you would put in.
As I see the bag seems to be quite stiff I will humidify the leather first but this will be epic!

Hi there!

How did you get a hold of him? The email I had for Thomson bounced. Let me know what you think of the bag...I've been thinking about getting one.

Cheers!
Rafael

Hi Rafael: I bought it on the COP online shop, very convenient.

I will tell you about the bag once I will tie the stocks in, and as I see how stiff it is this will be an epic confrontation!

Who will win, the goat or myself? Coming soon!

@Philippe : I've been playing a Thomson goatskin for a year now ; Laurence advised Hardie's Airtight. I must admit I had to season it every 2 months the first year of use. Perhaps the electric heating doesn't help... (though I play about 30 min. almost everyday.)
The bag will be one year old at the end of the month and looks/ feels like new. And, at last, it is needing far less seasoning than before (last one was end of January). Great bag It just need a long 'breaking in' time.

@Flatsphere : try bagpipebags@talktalk.net or lindathomson1@talktalk.net.

Thomson bags are--or used to be--sold by Inveran Bagpipes, and they recommend "Sound Seasoning", which they list on their website catalogue. Keith Bowes makes goatskin bags as well, and he also recommends it.

Got some Highlander pipe dressing (from Gannaway): do you think I can use this one?

@Axel: where can I find Hardie's Airtight?

Hi Philippe,
Xav. Boderiou sells that brand, or the CoP.
