Default Hihorodo Hiharara

I hear Barnaby Brown signing on You Tube "Hihorodo Hiharara". Sounds quite lovely, but whether that is beacuse he signs it so well, or because it is truly a beautiful tune it is hard for me to tell.

Where can I find the written script for this piobaireachd. I need notes on a staff notation - I am far too old to start learning canntaireach.

I don't think there is any script on staff notation sorry.

Why do you say you are too old to learn cantaireachd?

I've tried also with no results. Beautiful tune. There is a track of Barnaby playing this tune on the GHB in the album "Ceol Na Pioba. A must have for Piobaireachd lovers.

Thank you for the responses gentlemen.

"........... to old to learn canntaireach"
Well, I am told that there is a band down the line somewhere here in North Island in which all the pipers are over 80. I very nearly qualify!! But "Tabu soro" as we say in Fijian - never give up. Maybe I will give it a go.
Do you care to comment on whether or not the tune is worth trying to learn. Is it a really tuneful Piobaireachd, or am I being beguiled by the lovely presentation by Barnaby??

Despite the lack of written notes, did you learn the tune?? It would be possible to learn it by ear from Barnaby, watching his fingers and listening to the disc. Worth the effort??
I shall certainly look out for the CD. I shall be in Glasgow in August (for obvious reasons) and may find it there.

You can find it here:

I didn't decide yet if I will learn it but I will discuss this project with my master.

I suspect if one were to sing the tune and listen to the recording it might work itself out. The tune does have a lot of "fireworks" and, as always, Mr. Brown makes it seem easy.

My "master": if I use this word it is just because my piobaireachd instructor Patrick Molard (who was taught by Bob Brown himself) is very-well known in the little world of piobaireachd and actually still judge in competitions in Scotland.

Naturally when I talk to him I don't say "master" but as he teaches me in cantaireachd and transmit his knowledge with old fashion way of chanting I consider he is really a master in his art.

Hope these words make sense to you.
