Default BOB: re. cd pic of Mr. Jack Lee

This question is really posed to the folks who were with Mr. Lee at Boreraig Cairn (Hello Bob!) - I have to know: What did Jack play after posing for the pic? It looks like an incredible place to play the pipes; he must have played a tune or two...

My wife says he would have just packed up; I say he couldn't resist playing (but then, she's a side drummer, and I pipe, you might see the problem in the argument..., we certainly discussed it for awhile.)

So: Please tell me he played something, or else I'll be in the doghouse.

Hi Scott,

An answer - After we had decided to go to the Cairn for the photo(s), Jack spent some time considering which tune(s) to play - I listened to the discussion of tune options thinking Oh boy!, how great that was going to be, to hear him play - there..

The day arrived, we came back to take the photos; it was by now cold, (really cold) windy, and getting worse..shortly after the photos a rain storm rolled in - with serious wind too.. (we were at dinner by then).

So there we were, photos done, my daughters with their pipes, Jack and his sons, and ... it was time for dinner

Maybe, if the photographer had not taken so many photos, there would have been time? Blame me..

Cheers,
Bob

Bob,
Great story about Jack, I'm his no.1 fan. He's a truly great piper and just an alround nice guy. (met him courtesy of Ken MacKenzie)

Just reminiscing here.

Maeve and her husband Al, myself and my wife Barbara had a week on Skye two years ago - with fabulous weather

We (both Maeve and I) played piobaireachd at the Boreraig cairn in a "very" cool wind, it felt such an awsome experience just to be there, never mind to get to play. Thanks for sharing that time with me Maeve.

The beautiful scenery across the loch, as each of us played, was simply breathtaking - the sea was turquoise blue . Those who know Scotland well and Skye in particular, will appreciate just how rare a phenomenon that is. We also both plucked pieces of heather, it was in full bloom and smelt heavenly. Still have that heather in my tune book .

Then we all paid a visit to the Boreraig Piping Museum and met the family who run it. Quite an experience, their son played a tune or two on pipes - nifty "young" fingers there.

The bagpipe content in the museum was minimal, but the general historical farm implements and other esoteric objects were quite interesting.

We had a fabulous holiday in a cottage in Glen Eynort, the reputed setting for the writing of the tune, "The Old Men of The Shells"

I can still smell the heady mixture of the sea and the heather.

Thanks Bob, for sharing that story about Jack and for taking me back to a wonderful visit.

Cheers

John B
