I'm with the 1 med pipeband in South africa.
We are a grade three pipeband, the guy from benoni was quite good, but I think he has gone over to England now, no sure though.

Personally I like Bass section - but then I am a bass drummer. Mid-Section is a cool term too but I can't see it catching on in the wild blue yonder that is Cookstown... it's just to cosmopolitan a term for us yokels.
Anyway, anything is better than being called the back-end which is what our side drummers are commonly referred to as.Comment
