Doug,

If you used that thing in front of a band, I guarantee you the front rank of pipes would keep their distance.

Or you can try what one inventive band did in our area: they mounted a shower knob fixture on a pool cue stick. I am NOT joking - this is a true story.
There ought to be a law against it...
