  • Pearl Statosphere Failure/ Last Draw

Hey, just a quick note to those who have been watching this progress this season. Last weekend, Sat. and Sun. the Strat on my Pearl, that I have been working on for weeks, sounded pretty good according to "several" of us who know. So I am feeling pretty good about bringing the rest of the line up to tone and tension.......Had a gig today, away's from home. took the drum out of the case. and BROKEN HEAD... pulled from the crimp, Just like the Finalist........I have not been this upset, bummed, whatever you want to call it since PEARL fired all of their sales guy's........I am pulling the "Strats' off the rest of my line, and mailing back to Pearl, with a note, thanks but no thanks.....as Harry Meade said, they just aren't working, and other's........to Colin in BC......you said it best" Better luck next time Pearl"......It's a good thing you're supposed to watch your language on the site, I did not however at the gig this morning................End of Story.

To put it kindly, the Stratosphere is GARBAGE!!!!!! It's worse than the Finalist, I remember the days when you could get a whole season out of a Tendura, I've gone through 1 finalist and 2 stratosphere in 3 months. Pearl has dropped the ball on this one. Not only do they break at an alarming rate, but they don't stay tuned. They sound great 1 min, turn your back on it, come back 5 min's later and it's a garbage can. . Are band wil not be buying anymore of em.

We never had stay-tuned problem, but they did break a lot. Been testing some new prototypes. Put them on 3 weeks ago the weekend before Maxville. The only one that broke is the first one, and I abused the heck out of it. Took it up to tension in about 20 minutes, and then left it in the sun on my concrete patio for 2 hours in 95 degree heat. That killed it! All others have been holding up nicely. We have a concert in Sept and I will give an update then!

2 more protos down, but both can be attributed to leaving the drum in the car during the day in the sun, which is hell on any head. I'll keep you guys up to date.
