Before anyone thinks I'm some kind of nutjob I want to be clear that I did not purchase this device, nor am I advocating for it.
I just received a brand new Halo Sport 2 tDCS device through work. The idea is that wearing the device for 20min each day primes your brain to improve muscle learning and memory for up to an hour. To oversimplify the science it basically sends electrical impulses to certain parts of your brain through a series of wet electrodes. This is the same headset all the Olympians are wearing and despite the crazy concept the research suggests it does improve endurance and sport training. tDCS is also supposed to help with overcoming emotional trauma, PTSD and depression.
What I found interesting is that there is a setting for non-athletic performance improvement that specifically targets those learning to play instruments or other fine motor skill activities.
I am sceptical of anything that claims to make you a better athlete or musician but since I already have it I'm going to wear it before practicing and working out for a couple weeks to see how I feel. If nothing else it will give my family and gym mates something to laugh about.
Does anyone have any personal experience with this type of technology?
