I’ll try to ask his son what Willie’s preference was at my lesson tonight.

In answer to my own question…

I have located the revised/updated manuscript on the Piobaireachd Society website and it does indeed indicate no repeats of first lines.

I’ll leave this up - just in case someone else comes looking.

Repeat the first line in each variation, or not? Are both scenarios, that I have found recorded performances of, acceptable? In the CD Ancient Piobaireachd recording, Mr Barrie does not repeat first lines. I feel the non-repeats ‘sit’ better in the tune for my personal preference, however playing the repeats does not present any issue for me if that is the generally ‘accepted’ and expected way.

    Many thanks in advance folks!
