  • Highland dancing piper's fees - Guidelines needed

I'd like to have guidelines about how much to pay a piper who plays for Highland dancing competition. Are there some usual rules? Do piper's fees depend of the duration of the play, from how far the piper comes...

In advance, thanks for your help!

Usually in the US and Canada it is a flat rate for the day, no matter how many dancers there are. Travel money is separate and goes by distance along with hotel if needed. Specific amounts depend on the area to a certain degree, I think the east coast of the US pays more than the west coast, etc.
    Hope that helps!

It's typical for pipers to be paid the same fee as the dancing judges for the day, plus travel expenses, hotel (if needed), and meals. Until recently, that was $250 for a shared day piping (2 pipers) plus applicable expenses.

The judge's fee is rumoured to be going up to $300 in 2016.
